Marin Ballet Alum Carly Wheaton stars as Odette/Odile in OBT Swan Lake

Carly Wheaton | 2010 Marin Ballet Alumna

Carly Wheaton’s star has been rising ever since she graduated from Marin Ballet in 2010. Recently, she graced the stage as Odette/Odile in Oregon Ballet Theatre’s Christopher Stowell’s adaptation of Swan Lake, alongside principal dancer Brian Simcoe as Prince Siegfried. Oregon ArtsWatch, described Carly as a dancer “…with near-perfect turns, an ability for sharp quickness, fluid strength in her arms, and textbook arabesques and attitudes — shapes that mark the style of an ideal Odette.”

Carly completed her training at Marin Ballet with flying colors, dancing the lead role of Sugar Plum fairy in 2008 and 2009. After her graduation, she danced with Ballet Memphis as a trainee and joined the Washington Ballet for three seasons. Carly danced with BalletMet from 2015-2022 prior to joining OBT. She has had the pleasure of performing works by choreographers Julia Adam, Jiří Kylián, Val Caniparoli, Alexander Ekman, Matthew Neenan, Christopher Wheeldon, Andi Schermoly, Ma Cong, Septime Webre, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Edwaard Liang, James Kudelka, and George Balanchine.
