Invite your friends and give us a whirl at Ballet Fun Day!

Our fall enrollment period is underway, and this year we have planned a special “Ballet Fun Day” for children ages 3 – 8 on Saturday, August 22, 9am to 11am. We are so excited to introduce them to the joy of dance. This Open House includes mini-classes for the students, a ballet craft, and refreshments on the patio. Parents will meet our teachers and learn about Marin Ballet’s teaching philosophy and methods. Please share this information with your friends and family who have young children so that they can give us a whirl!

Ballet Fun Day Schedule

9:00 AM – Check-in

9:15–9:45 AM – Mini Dance Classes (by age group)

9:45–10:10 AM – Children: Ballet-themed craft activity | Parents: Meet the Faculty & Introduction to Marin Ballet

10:15–10:45 AM – Class demonstration by Faculty and our Students

10:45–11:00 AM – Refreshments in the Garden

New Teen Ballet Class starts August 17 – Try It for Free!

We’re excited to introduce a new Teen Ballet class designed for teens looking to build strength, flexibility, confidence, and artistry in a fun, supportive environment. Whether you’re new to ballet or looking to complement training in dance, theater, or sports, this class is a great fit!

Join us for a FREE trial class on any of these dates:

MBYC Performs at Marin Dance Festival – September 12

We’re thrilled to announce that the Marin Ballet Youth Company will perform at the 2026 Marin Dance Festival on Saturday, September 12, from 3:00–4:30 PM at Angelico Concert Hall at Dominican University of California.

This inspiring festival showcases an exciting lineup of local dance artists and companies across a variety of styles. We’re honored to represent Classical Ballet and hope you’ll join us in celebrating our dancers and the vibrant Marin dance community!

Exploring the Great Classical Ballets at the Tiburon Library:

You are personally invited to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of classical ballet with Marin Ballet’s Community Engagement Coordinator, Corinne Jonas.

Please join Corinne at the Tiburon Library for her exciting free series of Ballet Appreciation classes, perfect for adults and seniors who want to explore the artistry and storytelling behind the following four iconic story ballets.

What to Expect:

  • Hour-long sessions, each focusing on a different classical ballet
  • Learn the captivating stories behind these timeless productions
  • Analyze the beautiful musical scores that bring these tales to life
  • Watch breathtaking video footage from professional company performances
  • Experience the joy of dance with a 10-15-minute choreography lesson

No prior ballet experience needed! Most of the class will be seated, making it accessible for all. For the short dance portion, simply wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.

Holiday Time: Marin Ballet at the Fairmont’s New “Nutcracker” Tea!

This year Marin Ballet will partner with the beautiful Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco for a new Nutcracker-themed Holiday Afternoon Tea. Soloists from Marin Ballet’s Nutcracker will be part of the magic on two Sunday afternoons: November 22 and December 13.

Reservations have just opened for the Nutcracker Teas – be sure to book soon, as these events sell out quickly!

Spring Performance

This year’s Spring Performance displayed a progression of talent and new works from our performers in Levels 1 through Level 6, plus Marin Ballet’s Youth Company.

Audience reminisced on where their child started, while also enjoying delightful energy and smiles of the younger dancers.

“Peter and the Wolf”

Members of the Marin Ballet Youth Company (MBYC), along with students from our intermediate and advanced divisions, performed for our second year of our Peter and the Wolf production. This one-act story ballet is choreographed by Charlie Martin, who is also the costume designer.

Extravadance Gala Fundraiser

Step into the mystery and elegance of a Masquerade Ball.

Our Extravadance Gala took place on Saturday, April 25. Guests were invited to don their masks and immerse themselves in an evening of intrigue, glamour, and celebration.

Art Exhibition

Damon Mahoney’s shared a stunning collection celebrating ballet dancers with a dozen paintings on canvas and a selection of prints and drawings. Damon, a former soloist with Oakland Ballet and San Francisco Opera, combines his 12-year dance career and passion for art to capture the beauty and athleticism of ballet.

Marin Ballet Flamenco Presentation

Bravo to the wonderful Marin Ballet summer intensive students & Yumi La Rosa, their guest Flamenco teacher, as they top off their weeklong workshop with a beautiful demonstration. Video by Charlie Martin.
